Little Ted had his first lead walk in the Outside World this morning. He was really good, not too bold but not too scared either. I thought he’d be a lead biter but, no - he was so interested in everything he didn’t even notice the lead.
People who say ‘practice in the house’ are wrong. In the house the lead is the interesting thing and bad habits can easily be learned which are hard to unlearn. My tip for the day - have your first lead walks somewhere unfamiliar to the pup.
We’ll have another after lunch, weather permitting, and I’ll take photos.

First little groom!
I took little Ted to the Nice Grooming Lady to trim between his eyes. He was a good boy and she showed me how to get him used to the scissors.
I think he looks better, as well as being able to see better.
Still a Panda Puppy! 🐾🙂
(PS - he’s not a dribbler at all, he had just had a drink)

Nine weeks old.
Another good night, first wake up 5am then back to bed until 7am. Now they are both dosing until breakfast time.
So far, touch wood, he’s a really easy puppy. All poos and wees outside. His teeth are sharp but his jaw doesn’t have the force of a Lab puppy, so mouthing isn’t a problem at all - and he’s already starting to bite gently. Tatze can’t quite believe it, I can see her bracing for the chomp and then it doesn’t happen!
I can foresee lead walking being *interesting* his little collar and harness haven’t been received well at all so far, he’s a wriggly little monster when I try to put them on. A challenge to work on!

Last night we had just one get up for a wee and a 7am wake up. I’ll take that!
We have already got into a little routine and I’m working on leaving the room for a few minutes at a time, to get him used to being left. He’ll never be left for long but we still need to make sure he doesn’t develop separation anxiety. The secret is to give him something to lick to keep him busy, for example a filled frozen kong, and to return well before he starts to worry.

We had a good night. Two get-ups for wee wees and straight back to sleep then awake at 6am.
I take that as a win!
Ted loves his crate and takes himself in there when he’s tired and settles himself down. I only close the gate if I’m popping out of the room. I managed a shower this morning with no drama from Ted.-
